Although unsigned, this cover contains nearly every element found on the signed cover for Marshall Saunders' The Story of the Gravelys (1904). The figure is known in both these colors in first impressions of the book, and in a yellow dress with other color variations [see below]. There is a version, in fact, with a white dress and a blue sky, and a dust jacket which duplicates some of the cover design [see cover below]. The cover has apparently been redrawn, notably in the shape of the oars, the type of hat, and the background buildings, quite possibly by someone else.
