Monogram (from another volume)

This volume has an unusual early monogram, which I have only seen on the "Hildegarde" books. The spine design also appears on some printings of Margaret Montfort (1898), another Richards title, although the cover lettering is quite different and shows no monogram. This is one of nine Richards covers that Sacker designed for books by Richards. A detail below shows that white cloth was pasted over the blue book cloth, rather than stamping with white inks, which flaked badly at this time. The cover also exists in green.
