Although unsigned, this cover has many characteristics of Sacker's work, including the lettering. The later L. C. Page edition (undated except for the 1897 copyright date) has curiously rearranged the design elements on the cover and eliminated the spine decoration.   I have identified at least twenty-four Otis titles with Sacker designs, but there may be many more, as Otis wrote over 150 books for children! The simplified faces on this cover are typical of Sacker's work on Otis titles. This cover is also known in russet with the Estes & Lauriat name on the spine [see below].
