(Scroll
down to see a book that contains the bookplate! )
The quotation at the top of the bookplate comes from Terence--
"Nothing which is human is alien to me"
The
bookplate appears in this collection of Oriental codices by Eugene Tisserant
published in 1914. (I am not sure what the "Cancelled" notation
indicates.) My great thanks to Marylene Altieri, Curator
of Books and Printed Materials, Schlesinger Library on the History of Women
in America, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University
, for these images.
